Breville BFP800XL/A Sous-Chef Would you pay $400 for a house line?

How about $600?

The cost of the Breville Sous Chef was $400, and the new KitchenAid Pro line gets you $600 back.

Nowadays, food processors and mixers are more expensive than some large appliances. I have less than $600 for my GE 18 c.u. I bought last year.

Recently I took a closer look at the KitchenAid KFP164216 Pro line compared to the Breville BFP800XL/A Sous-Chef food processor. Both models are equipped with different functional scales and many well thought-out lines. But which offers you the best combination of price and opportunity?

Updated: The KitchenAid KFP164216 Pro product line is now KitchenAid KFP1642CA Pro, a 16 cube food processing line.

Below is a detailed comparison of these two food processing companies.

KitchenAid KFP164216 Pro line 16 cup food processing unit

The KitchenAid KFP164216 food processor is a newcomer to the city and was launched mid last year (2013). It’s big, and it’s big, and it’s expensive. The most important feature that other food processing companies do not have is the glazing kit.

As this model is relatively new and expensive, there is not much response to it yet. Because it is a large and heavy car, you should make sure you have a permanent home for it before you buy it.

Main differences

Okay, let’s start by taking a closer look at these two models. Both are tall, normal size, and about the same height, about 18 inches tall. Breville is lighter (about 20 pounds) and KitchenAid is heavier (about 22 pounds).

Breville is available in three colours: black sesame, stainless steel and cranberry red. While KitchenAid is available in five colours: Sugar apple red, matt pearl white, silver medallion, onyx black, sugar pearl silver.

Capacity

Sous Chef offers you two BPA-free working bowls; 16 cups and 2.5 cups. With the KitchenAid Pro line you get three functional BPA-free containers: 16 cups, 10 cups and 4 cups.

Power

The Sous Chef has a robust 1200 Watt asynchronous motor. Powerful enough to process hard products such as nuts, cheese and kneaded dough. On the other hand, the KitchenAid KFP164216 motor has only 650 watts of power.

Including knives and discs

Dough knife – Both machines come with a yeast dough knife.

Cutting knife – supplied with both models.

Grinding wheel – Both food processors have a reversible grinding wheel that allows coarse or fine grinding.

Cutting Wheel – The Sous Chef’s cutting wheel is truly universal with 24 different settings. KitchenAid’s speakers are also adjustable, but you won’t have so many settings. But it has been modified from the outside, so it is not necessary to stop the car to get a different setting. All you have to do is set the lever to the desired thickness.

The KFP164216 Pro Line is also supplied with a commercial hands-free enamel kit. You can’t change the size of the cube, and users say it’s very small. Still, it’s a good thing if you think you’re going to use it.

The Sous Chef BFP800XL/A contains a julienne, fries and a slice of whiskey.

Supply pipe size

Both models have extra large feeders that are suitable for large food products, but also for small and large food slides.

Additional Annexes

The brew comes standard with all the accessories you are likely to need. At KitchenAid you can buy a slice of parmesan/ice-cream, a slice of fried food and a slice of julienne.

What I like about KitchenAid KFP164216 Over line

  • I like that it comes in five colors.
  • The fact that the cut-off wheel can be adjusted from the outside while the machine is running.
  • Having three work scales of different sizes is a clear advantage.
  • A knife and a disc holder are included in the delivery.

What I like about Breville Sous Chef BFP800XL/A.

That’s it! I was saving up to buy it.

Seriously, what’s wrong with this car? But my favorites:

  • Adjustable cutting blades that allow you to cut paper into thin slices of salami or thick slices of apple by twisting the handle.
  • I love the LCD countdown timer (you can read my report to see what it does)
  • The julienne CD, fries and whiskey are standard on this model. However, these elements are generally complementary to other machines.
  • A well-designed Cadillac for storage that keeps all your knives and discs safely in one place.
  • I like a solid engine and a clean, efficient design.

Selection

So, if you’re looking at these two models, which one do you choose? That’s a good question. But let me see if I can help you make a decision.

The KitchenAid KFP164216 Pro Line food processor is the right choice for you when…

  • you think you’re gonna use an ice kit.
  • You would like to have three working bowls of different sizes.
  • You like the externally adjustable cutting blade, you don’t have to stop the machine, turn the slice or change it if you need a different thickness for your food.
  • You love the KitchenAid brand and you already have other KitchenAid appliances.

The Breville Sous-Chef food processor BFP800XL/A is the right choice for…

  • You want a very fast, efficient and powerful machine.
  • You need a very quiet car.
  • You want to be able to cut many different types of food into different sizes without having to use multiple slices.
  • You need a processor that is easy to install, easy to use and easy to clean.
  • You’d like a Julienne CD and fries, but you don’t want to pay extra.

Okay, here’s the thing. We know KitchenAid costs $200 more than Breville, right? Personally, I think Breville is the best investment because it offers more money opportunities overall. So here’s my advice.

First describe what you need your kitchen combination for. Determine what features the device should have to perform the things on your list and present your budget. Then compare your list with these two models. Choose the one who offers all the things on your list, has the best grades and gives you the most for your money.
